Introduction: Rebellion, failure and punishment

1. On the way to the Jordan
- Continued rebellion (against Moses and Aaron, ch. 16)
- Divine confirmation (of Aaron as High Priest, ch. 17)
- Sin of the leader (Moses failed, ch. 20:1-13)
- Opposition - by "family" (Edom, 20:14-21; Moab, 22-24, incl. Balaam)
- Second census (ch. 26, NB vv. 63-65

2. The means of deliverance
- Incense and Aaron (16:46-50)
